Bilfinger Berger Project Investments (BBPI) is responsible for the development, financing, operation and maintenance of a 26 km stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway in British Columbia.
The project involves replacing the Park Bridge, upgrading approximately 6 km of a four-lane highway and the operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of 26 km of highway.
For a monthly performance fee paid by the Province of British Columbia, the “Trans Park Highway General Partnership”, a concession company wholly owned by BBPI, will ensure the availability of the highway during the 25-year operating period.
The project volume amounts to about €100 million, while Bilfinger Berger’s equity commitment is around €7,7 million.
The highway runs across the Kicking Horse Pass, connecting the Western Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. A key element will be a new 400 metre span bridge across the canyon, built on columns rising up to 80 metres high.
"This performance-based contract has provided great value for taxpayers by combining stunning design work and top-notch construction along a very problematic segment of the Trans-Canada Highway. I'm delighted that the project is on budget and that the New Park Bridge is open to traffic several months ahead of schedule."
Transport Minister, Falcon, BC Ministry of Transportation.
