Bilfinger Berger Project Investments (BBPI) has been shortlisted to tender for the financing, design, building and operation of 11 new schools in and around Melbourne, Victoria.
Learning Places Partnership will now respond to a project brief which details the design, technical and service requirements for the new schools. Included in its scope will be ongoing maintenance and cleaning, while the Victorian Government will retain responsibility for all teaching services and curriculum.
BBPI (Australia)'s Chief Executive Fritz Syvertsen said: “This is a great example of the benefits that Bilfinger can bring to the growing education PPP sector in Australia. We are working in partnership with our UK colleagues to ensure the learnings from our successful UK schools projects can be applied here.”
BBPI is the co-sponsor and equity investor in the Learning Places Partnership consortium. Learning Places Partnership also includes The Royal Bank of Scotland as co-sponsor, equity investor and debt underwriter/arranger, Kane Constructions and Hooker Cockram Projects as the builders, Suters Prior Cheney Architects and ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects as architects and Tungsten Group as Facilities Management providers.
The Request for Proposal documentation is due out in May, with a submission date of August 2008. The schools will be delivered in two stages, in 2010 and 2011.
